Although permanent teeth were meant to last, there are multiple reasons why a tooth may need to be extracted.  Broken teeth, severely decayed teeth, impacted teeth, or teeth that have caused crowding may all be reasons for extraction. Extraction will be performed by gently rocking a tooth back and forth to loosen it from the jaw bone and ligaments that hold it in place. Sometimes, teeth need to be removed in sections, and this is normal.

What should I expect?

Before pulling the tooth, you will be given a local anesthetic injection to numb the area where the tooth will be removed. If the tooth is impacted, part of the gum tissue may need to be removed. Once the tooth is out, Somebody will instruct you on post-operative care.
