If you are missing multiple teeth, a partial or a denture can replace them.
Partials are removable plates with one or more false teeth. It has a metal base, gum-colored plastic, natural-looking teeth, and typically has clips (clasps) to help keep the partial in place in your mouth.
Dentures are a fully removable plate with an acrylic base crafted to look like your gums aligned with natural-looking teeth. The upper denture covers the roof of your mouth, while the lower denture is horseshoe-shaped and rests on the gum and bone tissue.
At first, your new partial or denture may feel awkward or bulky; this is normal and will resolve with time. Inserting and removing your appliance will take a little practice. You may develop sore spots and need a couple of adjustments. Wearing a partial or a denture will take a little “getting used to” as it is a foreign object to your mouth.
